1985 Joseph Drouhin Pommard Fremiers Burgundy
1985 was one of the absolute best vintages for Burgandy, especially the reds. They shown to be immediately charming, yet had plenty of stuffing for protracted aging and development, and they still do. This is of course even more true when coming from a strong high level producer and négociant firm like Joseph Drouhin and from a district like Pommard and more specifically Pommard Fremiers. Wines from Burgundy are treasured throughout the world and are a delight to the palate.
From the winemaker: “Seductive and Haunting. Pretty, mature colour. On the nose, intense and complex aromas with animal and spicy notes. The wines are full-bodied but without heaviness, well-balanced, refined and long on the palate. Soft tannins. A very good year that is seemingly evolving according to cycles: at times, the wines seem to be open, ready to be consumed; at other times, they show a lot of freshness and vitality. The wonderful magic of the Burgundy terroirs is here!”
