1993 Inniskillan Pinot Noir Reserve
Alliance, a joint venture between Inniskillin , Karl Kaiser, and Jaffelin of Cote D’Or, Burgundy was launched. This was the first association between two cool climate regions to produce a limited offering of VQA Alliance Pinot Noir and Alliance Chardonnay. The label was designed by Karl's son, Maximillian Kaiser. Inniskillin is world reknown for their ice wines, some of which I am offering, but they put together a damn fine Reserve Pinot as well. I again consider myself lucky enough to have had the opportunity to purchase this from their library offerings when I visited the winery. The only way this treasure can be acquired, except thru a collector like myself.
Like Burgundy, Germany, Oregon and New Zealand, Niagara is a classic cool climate viticulture region, ideally suited for the growing of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling as well as, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Icewine. Inniskillin focuses on these core varietals that grow well in the region. Perfectly crafted under the cool climate conditions the Niagara Peninsula affords, Inniskillin’s Niagara wines have distinctive elegance and finesse.
