2006 Anderson Valley Akins Pinot Noir Reserve Wine
Perfectly aged and stored 11-Year Old California Pinot Noir from the coveted from Anderson Valley-Mendocino County Area that is just peaking! Ahhhhhhh.... A wine like this makes the perfect holiday gift for someone you truly like/love and want to impress. Whether you want to wow your friends when entertaining or seek to level up your dating game for a night of romance ambiance, this wine can be your secret weapon. The terroir and climate is perfect for the Pinot Noir grape and the wines from this area are gold class and quite ageable. This wine is right up there with wines from Burgundy I have drank in the past. In case you aren’t familiar with fine French wines, Burgundy is a region in France that also specializes in Pinot Noir with a similar terroir for growing the grape. You don't see aged California Pinot Noir bottles in the store like this and few people have the patience to age the bottles themselves. It isn’t the California way. But as good as a good lighter style Pinot tastes when released, it is a whole other drinking experience when allowed to ripen to its peak over 10 yrs or so. Just Wow....Pinot Perfection! And it's Vegan! (Yes, not all wines are. These bottles would easily sell for $125-$150 plus tax if you could ever find them in a store, which would be a difficult task indeed. I acquired them recently when up in the Anderson Valley-Mendocino County Area from a friend that used to work at the winery. The Winery offered this write up when they released the wine for sale initially, many years back: "This stunning wine, polished with a bright ruby and crimson color offers a bouquet of black cherries, dried raspberries, cedar, spice box, black tea and an exquisite soft scent of citrus peel. Beautifully integrated oak adds soft sweet tannins with notes of light smoke and truffle as the wine opens. Classic Anderson Valley earthiness on the palate, this elegant pinot has a firm backbone of acidity for confident ageability." |
I have 12 bottles left. I will let them go for $100/bottle.
