2002 Domaine La Tour Vieille Banyuls Vendanges (375ml)
Over the last 25 years, Christine Campadieu and Vincent Cantie have built up an impressive reputation, and their most recent releases demonstrate that they are amongst the most elite estates of Roussillon, excelling in the dry reds of their home town of Collioure as well as the fortified sweet wines of neighboring Banyuls.
Silken smooth mouthfeel. Sweet. Very sweet. Thick. It sits on your tongue. Tastes of cherries, figs, blackberry and more…with a nice balance of earthy notes.
Bite into a nice piece of dark chocolate. Then take a sip of this wine. Near wine-gasm! The heavy weight of the wine on your tongue is bliss when combined with the sensual nature of the berry fruity wine.
These wines naturally age very well. Ready to drink upon release, like a younger fruity port, they continue to get more and more complex and layered with time. My absolute favorite wine to drink with chocolate, especially with a close group of friends.
